Hitting up some of the best comics around with a little Q&A session, here is your chance to get some insight and to get even more excited about seeing one of your favorites. Yeah, you’re welcome.

Who: Greg Behrendt

About The Show: Sure Greg Behrendt wrote the book “He’s Just That Into You” but let’s be clear here, Greg is a comic (a super great and funny comic) and when it comes to his stand-up, well, let’s just say there won’t be excerpts being read. Prepare to get your laugh on because Behrendt delivers relatable humor that makes it easy to see why crowds are all just so “into him.”

When and Where: Hollywood Improv, September 28th at 8:00 pm, 8162 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood 90046 (323) 651-2583

Q&A with Greg Behrendt by Ali Lerman

Q: Is anyone in the media these days giving you excellent material?

A: Not really. I don’t really go after people though in my act. Well, I did go after Criss Angel pretty hard a couple of years ago but then I realized as I going after him, he’s flying over me in a private jet. The thing that I find interesting about this time period is that, we’ve all been able to find our craft and our people. So we can all exist alongside of each other and they don’t have to offend me because they’re not being shoved down my throat. So if I’m going after somebody, I’ve gone out of my way to be annoyed by them.

Q: You’re so well rounded in that you write, are in a band, produce, act, podcast, do comedy...is there anything else you’re trying to tackle?

A: When I got sober originally, I realized that I had a lot of time on my hands. I really felt like I could accomplish so much more since I wasn’t going out and getting f****ed up. I always wanted to be a musician, so that was a goal of mine. With my band, we’re not trying to play radio hits so it’s really specific stuff. It’s a real release for me and it’s something that I can check off of my list and say, I’ve done this. Our next record is about to come out too and we’ll do shows and make a video so, it’s really great. At the end of the day, I love doing stand-up and I’d like to write more books too. I just sort of do what comes next. I want to build my own little tiny empire, have a little cult, and retire in Hawaii!

Q: Your podcast “Walking the Room” is fantastic. Do you have any stand-out moments from doing it?

A: I love the whole thing really. It’s genuinely my life and Dave’s life as it unfolds week to week. It’s very sincere, it’s really dirty, and it’s super stupid. But at the same time, it’s very raw and very true. It’s been a lot of fun. Also, it’s not dirty in a demeaning way towards anyone, it’s just dirty in a stupid way.

Q: Hey, when people say what they want to say how they want to say it, I’m all in.

A: It’s funny too because the woman who listen to it have become really hardcore fans. We’re not saying that everyone will like it but, everyone can find something that hits.

Q: Do you ever worry about talking about things on your podcast that other people will find offensive?

A: No. I mean, use taste. There are parts of the show where someone might say, “These things said were offensive.” And then some might say, “Hey, don’t listen.” But also, you can say, “That’s a good point, I never thought of it that way.” We’re open to the idea that we don’t know everything.

Q: So I noticed you’re doing a date coming up soon in Australia. Do you ever have to switch up your material for the location that you’re in?

A: Well once you get roots on the ground, you get a sense of what works and what doesn’t. You start out doing your act and then, something will happen there and you’ll incorporate it into your act so that people know you’re aware of being in that location. You realize the things that aren’t translating completely and sometimes they’re cultural or they just don’t work for whatever reason. So, you take that out of the act so it’ll work. It’s great over in Australia though. I adore going over there. It’s one of my favorite places in the whole world. I’m going to Sydney coming up and then in the beginning of next year, I’m may tour the entire country.

Q: What else are you working on that you want to put out there?

A: I’ll be shooting another special before the end of the year and it’ll be something different that I’ve never done before. For where I am in life right now, I want to make my own specials, t-shirts, records, you know, create my own little world that I live in and omit the middle man for people.

Q: I think the people will like that. Where can we find you on social media?

A: My website is www.GregBehrendt.com, on Twitter it’s @gregorybehrendt, my Instagram is @SweaterBG, and I have a Facebook page but it’s not that exciting. Nothing goes on over there. But, the “Walking the Room” Facebook page is awesome.  My band has a Twitter also and it’s @ReigningMonarch and you can get more info at www.TheReigningMonarch.com
