  • Kurt Braunohler

    Kurt Braunohler

Kurt Braunohler is a comedian, skywriter, and jet-skier who has committed his career (perhaps foolishly) to “inserting absurdity into stranger’s lives to make the world a better place.” His stand up has been described as “refreshing idiocy from an enthusiastic weirdo” by his own mother. He has an album, a half-hour Comedy Central Special and has performed standup sets on CONAN, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Seth Meyers.

Kurt Braunohler was featured in Variety’s annual prestigious “10 Comics To Watch” list, named in Time Out New York's list of 50 Funniest New Yorkers and Backstage Magazine’s “5 Comics To Watch,” "Comic to Watch" by Comedy Central, the New York Comedy Festiva and Time Out NY, as well as “Best Male Stand-Up” by the ECNY and “Best Unscripted Host” by the New York Television Festival.

On TV, Kurt can been seen (or heard) on Bob's Burgers, The New Girl, @midnight, Comedy Central Presents, Drunk History, Chelsea Lately, John Oliver Stand Up, Delocated, Getting Doug with High, Adam Devine's House Party, Jon Benjamin Has a Van, Assy McGee, The Heart She Holler, Human Giant and as host of IFC’s comedy game show Bunk!.  Kurt can also be seen in David Cross' film HITS.

Kurt is currently in development with Comedy Central on his pilot “Better. Dumber. Faster with Kurt Braunohler.”  He can also be heard on the radio on This American Life telling a story which he is currently developing for film.

Kurt rode a jet ski from Chicago to New Orleans on a seven city water tour/mission to send 500 goats and 1,000 chickens to families in need in Africa. The adventure was filmed for a Comedy Central webseries called “Roustabout” and launched January 2015 on cc.com.

Kurt’s chart-topping debut album How Do I Land?, recorded live at packed rock clubs, was the first comedy release for venerable indie label Kill Rock Stars and was included in several Best Of 2013 lists The album’s title comes from Kurt’s “Cloud Project” in which he raised $6k on Kickstarter and hired a pilot to write the words “How Do I Land?” across the LA sky. The resulting skywriting images went viral.

Called "a prolific stand-up comedian" by the Los Angeles Times, Kurt has performed his whip-smart comedy on stages across the world including Outside Lands, SXSW, Moontower, All Tomorrow's Parties, Bonnaroo, Just for Laughs in Montreal and Chicago, SF Sketchfest and IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! Live. Oh, and he once performed at Radio City Music Hall.

Kurt co-created and has co-hosted the continuously sold-out variety show “Hot Tub” for 10 years with comedy writing partner Kristen Schaal. The duo moved the show to LA in Jan 2013 where it was hailed “the hottest new comedy show” by Los Angeles Magazine. Kurt and Kristen continue to host and peform Hot Tub to a packed house every Monday night.

Kurt’s popular podcast “The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler” features some not-so-standard segments featuring Kurt and guests including Paul F Tompkins, Matt Braunger, Jon Daly, Kumail Nanjiani, Steve Agee and Nick Thorburn (from Islands/Unicorns who also wrote the theme song). Episodes are available on the Nerdist Network.

    Bob Wiltfong

You may know Bob Wiltfong from his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart or as “The World’s Greatest Spokesperson in the World” for Nationwide Insurance in TV commercials. Bob came up in improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City right when it started. His teachers included Amy Poehler and Armando Diaz. While there, Bob’s Harold team, Neutrino, invented a new improv form called the “Neutrino Video Projects” – which landed them headline slots at HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and The Fringe festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2004, the Chicago Improv Festival awarded Neutrino its “Improv Group of the Year” award. Bob moved on to become one of the founding performers at The People’s Improv Theater in New York and his shows there helped grow The P.I.T. into what it is today. Bob is proud to say that he’s a graduate of The Conservatory program at The Second City in Chicago and he’s currently going through The Groundlings system here in L.A. If you like awards, Bob has them too! In his previous career as a TV news reporter and anchor, Bob won several Emmys for his on-camera work and was awarded the prestigious Edward R. Murrow and Peabody Awards as well.

Neutrino will perform its ground-breaking improv form, the Neutrino Video Projects (NVP), at The Improv in Hollywood.

The NVP is an improvised movie based on audience suggestions. The actors and director run to locations around the theater and film scenes. Runners bring the scenes back to the theater and are projected and mixed live in front of the audience.

Neutrino is an improv comedy team formed in 1999 in New York City. They have garnered rave reviews to sell out crowds all over the world. Achievements include: Offical selection for HBO's US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the 2004 Ensemble of the Year Award from Chicago Improv Festival.

Many of the original cast and crew has rejoined together to perform this special engagement.

Original Neutrino member -- and current alt comedy star -- Kurt Braunohler will be joining us for the show and performing some of his material in between acts. If you missed it, Kurt got a great write-up on the front page of the Calendar section in the L.A. Times a couple of weeks ago.
