Derek Jones is a Writer/Comedian hailing from the seaside town of East Haven, Connecticut, nestled in the bosom of the Long Island Sound. Upon graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia, Derek moved to Los Angeles with a dream in his heart and stars in his eyes. Starting as a Page at NBC, like famed television personalities Regis Philbin and Willard Scott before him, Derek quickly began accelerating his television career, eventually finding himself writing jokes for one of TV's oldest institutions, The Tonight Show.
Having been a familiar face on the Los Angeles comedy scene the past several years, he can be seen performing at such viable comedy institutions as the weekly alternative comedy Mecca "What's Up Tiger Lily," Greg Barris' alt. brainchild "Heart of Darkness," as well as area mainstays such as The Hollywood Improv, Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater, The Ice House, The Second City and The Comedy Store, and clubs all across the country, including The Las Vegas Improv at Harrah's Hotel & Casino. Recently, Derek has been seen on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" as a featured performer playing everything from a male model for Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's new GTL clothing line, to a referee for Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno in a heated match of Frozen Turkey Shuffleboard.
